About 50 people gathered Saturday night outside of the Federal Courthouse in Eugene. The vigil was in response to the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The event took place after hundreds of people flocked to the Supreme Court building in Washington D.C. Friday night. The local community vigil encouraged people to sing and share ways RBG inspired them.

Attendee Karen Dooley said she came to remember her hero.

Community members place candles and stickers on the ground in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“I strongly believe in all that she has done," said Dooley. "And I am awed by the years of her work and the years that she has put toil into making this world a better place—not only for women, but for all people.”

Attendees encouraged people to contact their senators to postpone the selection of the next Supreme Court justice until after the presidential inauguration, or ask them to expand the Supreme Court.
