Lane County Special Election results
In unofficial results, a levy to renew funding for 4-H and OSU Extension in Lane County has been approved by voters in Tuesday's special election. A levy to fund the Lane Fire Authority is also passing.
A measure to create a special law enforcement district in the Mohawk Valley looks to be failing with with 52% against it and 48% in favor.
And a bond for the McKenzie School District looks to be in question with 56% voting no.
In the Lane Community College Board of Education race, Holli Johnson looks to be the clear winner for Zone 1. She was appointed to the position in March and faced three challengers in Tuesday's special election. Steve Mital is well ahead of Al King in the open Zone 5 race.
Rose Wilde is well ahead of Rich Cunningham in the race to serve on the Lane ESD Board of Directors.
Judy Newman looks poised to hold onto her position 3 seat on the Eugene 4j School Board. Tuesday night she was ahead of Tom Di Liberto by more than 1,000 votes. Laural O’Rourke and Maya Rabasa also look to be on their way to being elected to serve on the 4j board in positions 2 and 6.
In the Springfield School board race, Jonathan Light is well ahead of four others vying for the position 3 seat. And Kelly Mason is just ahead of Ruth Linoz in the position 5 race.
Douglas County Special Election Results
Roseburg-area voters eliminated a water district and a sewer district Tuesday night…but approved a joint authority that’ll cover both services.
Roughly 72% approved two separate measures that dissolved the Roberts Creek Water District and the Green Sanitary District. 73% of voters approved a third measure that essentially consolidates the two into the Green Area Water and Sanitary Authority. Advocates say this will streamline operations, and simplify billing.
Voters also elected board members for the newly-formed authority: Tracey Parker, Carolyn White, Brenda Kingry, Thomas Fullbright, and Stephen Lusch.
Deschutes County Special Election Results
Deschutes County voters have approved a measure to build a new Sisters Elementary School. 62% voted yes on Measure 9-141, which allows a current levy – originally used in 2001 to build Sisters High School – to continue, at the tax rate of $.93 per $1,000 of assessed property value. This will create a nearly $34-million fund for the grade school’s construction. Leftover funds can go towards upgrades and renovations of other school district sites. Advocates said the new school will accommodate a projected increase in enrollment.
Voters in Tuesday’s special election also largely rejected two measures: one to improve fire and emergency medical services for the Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District; and another one to improve facilities at the La Pine Park and Recreation District.
Lincoln County Special Election Results
In Lincoln City, Susan Wahlke is leading a five-way race to become mayor. The winner will serve the remainder of Dick Anderson's term. Anderson resigned as mayor when he was elected to the Oregon Senate. Wahlke is a former city councilor.
Three levies to support rural fire districts in Lincoln County were trailing in results Tuesday evening. The tax measures in North Lincoln, East Lincoln and Seal Rock districts were all behind with around 93% of the ballots tallied. The North Lincoln measure was failing by just 45 votes.
Benton County Special Election Results
In Benton County, voters renewed a five-year public safety levy by a wide margin. It continues tax rates at their current level. County leaders also said a portion of the money will be used for mental health crisis outreach. The levy was passing Tuesday evening with nearly 72% of voters saying "yes."
