On Monday, the deadline for Oregon educators to be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Eugene 4J School District said the vast majority of its staff is in compliance.

The district said 98.6% of its teachers and administrators and 96.4% of regular district staff are verified to be fully vaccinated.

In a press release, the district said a small percentage of staff have declined the vaccine and can no longer work in schools or have requested an exception on medical or religious grounds.

Monday was a no school day for 4J as the district worked to address the changes in staffing that may result from the vaccine deadline.

The district has provided: • Vaccine clinics for staff starting in January 2021 • Paid work time for staff to get their vaccine shots • Information about the safety, efficacy and availability of vaccines • Extensive communication about the staff vaccination requirement • Individual consideration of each request for exception

As of October 18, 98.6% of 4J teachers and administrators, and 96.4% of all regular district staff, have been verified to be fully vaccinated.

4J staff fully vaccinated and verified:   • Teachers & Licensed Specialists: 98.6% • Administrators & Supervisors: 98.6% • Classified Staff: 93.4% • TOTAL All Regular Staff: 96.4%
