Blizzard Conditions Close I-5 At Oregon-California Border

ODOT on Twitter

UPDATE: I-5 SB has been re-opened. Highway 138 has also reopened after previous closure east of Roseburg.

I-5 southbound remains closed this (Wednesday) morning at Ashland, exit 11.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is waiting to hear from Cal-Trans on the latest conditions in the Mt. Shasta-Dunsmuir area, where blizzard conditions forced the closure last night at about 10 p.m.

For more information, go to tripcheck.

An ODOT spokesperson reminds drivers: "If an interstate freeway is not passable due to snow, please don't think an unmaintained or limited winter maintenance road is better."

Currently, Highway 66 and Dead Indian Memorial roads are partially blocked by semis that tried to get around the I-5 closure.

For those of you heading out on Highway 58, the roads are open *but a quick check of ODOT cameras shows a healthy coating of snow at Salt Creek Tunnel and Willamette Pass. Take your time and be careful heading into higher elevations.
