Bull elk fatally shot and left to waste in Douglas County

Oregon State Police

Oregon officials are seeking tips on the shooting of a 5-point bull elk this week in Douglas County.

On Tuesday (10/5) Oregon State Police in Roseburg got a call about the animal, which had been shot once through the back on a gravel roadway and left to waste.  The bull elk’s body was found on a Bureau of Land Management road between Turkey Creek and Upper Cow Creek in south Douglas County, east of I-5 and Canyon Mountain.

State police say they’re looking for a vehicle with large mud terrain-type tires that left the area.

Any person with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the OSP TIP (Turn-In-Poachers) Reward line at 1-800-452-7888 or by cell at *OSP (*677) or send an email tip to TIP@osp.oregon.gov.  Reference case #SP21284240.
