Caretaker's Death in Springfield Determined To Be A Homicide

Springfield Police have determined that a community garden caretaker’s death is a murder.

Richard Marshall’s body was found Monday night at the Food for Lane County’s Youth Farm.  The 70 year-old man was last seen alive on the morning of Friday, February 26th.

Marshall lived on the site in his RV, and had been a volunteer caretaker for the organization since 2011.

In a statement, Food for Lane County says they were saddened to hear of Marshall’s death.  The Youth Farm will be temporarily closed.

Police are asking anyone with information on suspicious activity in the area to call their investigations unit at 541-726-3721.
