Climate Kids Join March In Washington D.C.

Rachael McDonald

The kids who are suing the government over climate change are in Washington D.C. this week. They’re joining the People’s Climate March Saturday.

Kelsey Juliana of Eugene is the named plaintiff in the federal lawsuit against the Trump Administration which calls for immediate action to address climate change. The lawsuit, brought by 21 young people, was originally filed when Obama was president, but Juliana says, it has more of a sense of urgency under a Trump administration.
Juliana “He is rejecting climate science. He’s rejecting climate recovery plans. He’s rejecting Paris Climate Agreements, the Clean Power Plan. He’s moving forward with new fossil fuel infrastructure. So, we’re not going against a stagnant administration.”
Juliana and fellow plaintiffs are joining the People’s Climate March in Washington D.C. Saturday.

There are climate marches planned in Portland, Florence, Bend, Roseburg and Eugene Saturday.
