With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror, the Oregon Health Authority is urging Oregonians to stay vigilant as they prepare for the next round of holidays later this month.
Remember all that advice last month about how it would be safer to celebrate Thanksgiving at home? Well, despite the promise of a vaccine just around the corner, the need to use caution around others will still be in effect for Christmas and New Year’s. State epidemiologist Dean Sidelinger says it might be time to start planning non-traditional celebrations "Try and move activities outside as much as possible," he said Thursday during a Facebook Live presentation. "Always have your mask on. And really change the behavior and the way you get together with your friends and family this holiday season. This is a sacrifice, and a very large sacrifice. But it’s one that won’t last forever.” Social gatherings in most parts of Oregon are limited to six people indoors. A continued surge of coronavirus cases is stressing the state’s health care system.
