Electric scooters may become a thing across Eugene next year. Officials are considering introducing them across the city as they have with the bike share program that launched in 2018.
“We’re always looking out for new sustainable ways that people can get around in Eugene and meet the city’s goals around reducing the amount of transportation that generates greenhouse gas emissions," says Rob Inerfeld, Transportation Planning Manger for the city.
"We’d like to take a much more deliberate approach to invite companies to provide their services on the city and community’s terms.”
Inerfeld says they’ve observed how Portland has integrated e-scooters since 2018. He says the City of Eugene has an online surveyto gauge interest and concerns for a pilot program that will shape rules and restrictions for e-scooters.
