Four Terrebonne Water District Directors Face Recall

A group of disgruntled citizens in Deschutes County has succeeded in getting a special recall election. Voters in the Terrebonne Water District will decide April 1st whether to keep four of the five members on their utility board.

Last summer, a group of Terrebonne residents were upset when their water bills were up to three times higher than usual. When they didn’t get a satisfactory explanation from water district directors, they decided to try to recall those officials. They had to collect signatures, and those were verified last week. Nancy Blankenship is the Deschutes County Clerk. She says the April 1st ballot will list each of the candidates separately:

Blankenship: “The vote would be either a yes vote to support the recall and remove them from office or no not to recall the public official and retain them in office.”

Blankenship says the last time Deschutes County had a recall election was 2002. The sample ballot will be available online Thursday. Click here.
