Identity Of Suspect Remains Unknown As DA's Office Probes Deadly Force Incident

The Lane County DA’s office is declining to identify a man shot by Eugene Police yesterday.

In an email sent to KLCC, the DA said there are two criminal investigations pending: one involves allegations of domestic violence by the suspect, the other is on the use of force by police.

Drawing conclusions or releasing information before such investigations are complete are – in their words – “reckless.”

The DA’s office adds that they do not release names of suspects prior to an arrest or determination of charges.

Candles left from a Monday night vigil on the corner of West 2nd and Madison, where the suspect was shot.

The EPD has previously stated the man violated a restraining order and prompted a 911 call when he entered an apartment complex in the Whiteaker area Monday. The domestic violence suspect reportedly advanced on police with a knife, and was shot twice.  His condition remains unknown.

A small vigil was held Monday night at the incident site. People lit candles, while some called for defunding the police.
