Large Passenger Van Stolen From Eugene-Springfield NAACP

Eugene/Springfield NAACP Branch #1119

Eugene Police are looking for tips on a van stolen from the local NAACP last weekend.

The vehicle is a 12-passenger, white 2018 Chevrolet Explorer Cargo van, which the organization used for youth transportation and food delivery.  The NAACP had just purchased the vehicle in June.

A representative with Eugene-Springfield NAACP Branch #1119 says it’s believed to have been stolen on Sunday, January 10th between 9am and 4pm.

In addition to the van, a laptop and several picnic chairs were also reported missing from the branch location at 330 High Street.

When asked if the theft could have been racially motivated, the representative told KLCC the possibility is always present in today’s climate.  For now, the local Chevy dealer has loaned the organization a similar van.

Tips on the theft can be called in to the EPD at (541)682-5111.
