Most of Oregon is under an air quality advisory between now through at least noon, Monday.

Dylan Darling of the state Department of Environmental Quality says there are two prime causes behind the bad air.

“We are seeing effects from wildfire smoke and smog, or ozone pollution. Stay inside if possible. You might want to keep your windows and doors closed. Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.”

Darling advises monitoring air quality through DEQ’s online index, or the OregonAIR app for smartphones.

Severe smoke and smog can worsen some medical conditions.  Young children, pregnant women, seniors, and people with heart or lung disease are most at risk.
