Veterans will now have greater access to healthcare in southwestern Oregon.
The Roseburg Veteran Affairs Health Care System is partnering with urgent care facilities in the area.
They are adding nine facilities to their network for eligible veterans within 100 miles of Roseburg.
Rocky Phillips, director of communications, says historically, the VA never offered opportunities to seek acute care needs. But the VA MISSION Act of 2018 has changed that.
“So now this a new provision in the law that allows veterans to, if they were to have something like the common cold or just need some antibiotics, it provides a means for them to seek care in the community at our network providers,” says Phillips.
Phillips adds this partnership will provide important opportunities for veterans to seek healthcare when unable to make it into the VA or if they require more flexible hours.
