Oregon will represent the north division when they take on USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The Ducks are the reigning Pac-12 champions but it didn’t look like they’d get a chance to defend that title this year, after the University of Washington was crowned the Pac-12 North division champs. The Ducks slid into the championship game after the Huskies were sidelined by COVID-19 for the second week in a row.
The Ducks, who are 3-2 this season, take on the Pac-12 South champions, USC, who are undefeated and ranked No. 13 in the country. In a media call on Wednesday, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal said the Trojans are tough competitors. “They’re about as good as it gets in the country. There’s little room for error, especially as it relates to discipline and technique, because they’ll get ya,” said Cristobal. This is the first time the two teams will meet in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
Oregon has won five of the last seven meetings with USC dating back to 2009. If the Ducks win it would be their fourth title- the most of any program in the conference.
A win will also send the Ducks to the Fiesta Bowl.
Oregon is 24-9 under head coach Cristobal, who on Thursday signed a new six-year, $27.3 million contract.
