No. 6 Ohio State roared into the College Football Playoff semifinals with a 41-21 victory over No. 1 Oregon in the 111th Rose Bowl.

Dillon Gabriel threw four touchdown passes and No. 1 Oregon outlasted No. 3 Penn State 45-37 on Saturday night in the Big Ten championship, giving the Ducks a first-round bye and almost certainly the top seed in the College Football Playoff.

Dillon Gabriel threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, and No. 1 Oregon closed out an undefeated regular season with a 49-21 victory over Washington.

The defeat means the end of the Beavers' hopes for a bowl game.

Gabriel finished 18-of-26 for 291 yards and Oregon racked up 527 yards of total offense. Tez Johnson caught six of Gabriel’s passes for 102 yards and a score. The Ducks haven’t started a season with eight straight wins since 2013. It was Oregon’s third win over a ranked team this season.

Fernando Mendoza passed for two touchdowns and a career-high 364 yards, and California beat Oregon State 44-7 to snap a four-game losing skid. Cal led 31-0 at halftime and also saw star running back Jaydn Ott return after missing the previous two games with an ankle injury. The Bears, who entered the game having dropped their last four games by a combined nine points, left little doubt about the outcome.

Hajj-Malik Williams accounted for three touchdowns, Caden Chittenden kicked field goals of 20, 34, 34 and 29 yards and UNLV beat Oregon State 33-25. Williams was 15-of-27 passing for 196 yards and a touchdown and added 65 yards rushing and two TDs on 13 carries. Ricky White III had nine receptions for 88 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown that made it 33-17 with 4:53 to play. Gevani McCoy scored on second-quarter runs of 1 and 71 yards to give Oregon State (4-3) a 17-6 lead.

Savion Red ran for four touchdowns Saturday night, Kitan Crawford returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Brendon Lewis ran for a 67-yard TD as part of a wild fourth quarter and Nevada held on to beat Oregon State 42-37.
