EmX Pre-Construction Begins In May
Pre-Construction activities are scheduled to begin in May for the West Eugene Em-X transit project.
The engineering phase of Eugene's EmX expansion includes work to relocate water services and electric utilities. The Eugene Water and Electric Board say most of this work between Garfield and Charnelton Streets will occur overnight to minimize disruptions in traffic. Surveyors are also going to proceed with marking project lines where road widening or EmX station placement will occur. There are refinements to the original plan to accommodate businesses. Some changes include a reduction in on-street parking of 15 spaces, down from 60, and a 16 percent reduction in the total acreage. The work is expected to continue two to three months.
