The annual showdown between the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers adds to the traffic snarls associated with the Thanksgiving holiday and Black Friday.
The “Civil War” football game is in Corvallis. Shelley Snow with the Oregon Department of Transportation advises travelers to be prepared.
“It’s worth your time to take a little extra time. Be patient. Plan ahead. And just realize that it’s going to be busy out there. So get that mindset going. Put away the distractions. Focus on the job at hand, which is, if you’re behind the wheel that is to drive safe.”
Last year, 4 people died in vehicle crashes over Thanksgiving weekend. Snow says getting enough rest and driving sober are key to driving safety. Sunday is the biggest annual travel day on Oregon roads.
