Eugene City Council Candidate Stumps On Proposed LTD Routes

Many questions and concerns surround Lane Transit District’s plans to potentially restructure bus routes in Eugene and Springfield. Today, one city council candidate stumped at a bus stop to discuss the proposed changes.

The press conference was held by Kate Davidson, a Eugene city council candidate for Ward 2. At a bus stop on East 32nd Avenue, she said LTD should have included more community involvement.

“Never did they ask people the question, ‘Would you like more frequent service? By the way, at the expense of other people in the city not having service at all,’” said Davidson. “I don’t think anyone in Eugene would have agreed to that.”

Davidson hopes LTD will slow down their process for changing the routes.

“I’d really like to see them revisit their planning process and ask more questions,” said Davidson.

LTD will hold a data collection and analysis presentation on March 4, from 10 to 11:30am in the LTD Board Room. According to the LTD website, space is limited. More information can be found on the LTD events page.
