A six-mile section of Oregon Highway 58 east of Oakridge will close for ten hours Wednesday, July 7, to allow crews to remove a semi-truck that crashed last week.
The complete closure near the Salt Creek Tunnel is scheduled from 4 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, with no local detour available. ODOT says the truck is 200 feet down a steep embankment and removing it will require a crane.
The highway will be closed between mileposts 51 and 57. Most eastbound traffic will be turned around at Oakridge, with local travel permitted past Oakridge until the closure point at milepost 51.
Westbound traffic will be turned around at milepost 73, with local travel permitted until milepost 57, which is at the entrance to the Salt Creek Falls trailhead.
Oregon State Police said the driver did not survive the June 27 crash.
