Drivers heading from the mid-Willamette Valley to central Oregon will have to find a new route for three days this week.
The Oregon Department of Transportation is closing U.S. Highway 20 about 25 miles east of Sweet Home so that crews can install two culverts that are part of a landslide repair project. The closure starts at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8 and is scheduled to last until the end of the day on Friday, Sept. 10.
It means drivers who normally use Highway 20 between central Oregon and places like Lebanon, Brownsville or Albany will have to take a lengthy detour, using either highway 22 to the north or highway 126 to the south.
ODOT says roughly 1,400 vehicles a day use the section of road that’s going to be closed.
