An administrator with the Eugene Airport says the facility is open and ready for travelers. This comes as many airports and carriers are dealing with delays and cancellations, nationwide.
Recent winter storms and the omicron variant of COVID-19 are blamed for many disruptions to holiday travel, which includes thousands of flights cancelled or delayed.
Andrew Martz is the assistant director of the Eugene Airport. He said operations are pretty normal at the facility, though he advised people to check their flight status with their carrier.
“I was just in the terminal and I saw there was [sic] two canceled on the board. For the most part, the majority of our flights are operating and our runways are clear. Our crews have been working to keep us open and they’ve been doing a great job.”
Eight airlines fly in and out of the Eugene Airport, including Southwest, Delta, United, and Alaska. Martz says all are observing COVID protocols to ensure passenger and crew safety.
Several airlines have asked the CDC to revise quarantine periods to offset staffing disruptions among pilots and flight crews.
