Original story
Interstate 5 is seeing significant delays just north of Eugene due to "law enforcement activity," according to ODOT. The portion most affected is between the Beltline exit and the Coburg exit. Traffic cameras in the area show significant backups.
According to KEZI, the incident is related to a manhunt that was underway in the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday after a double murder and child abduction in West Richland, Washington. KEZI reports that according to Oregon State Police, the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot and that the child was found safe.
According to ODOT's TripCheck website, one northbound lane is now open to traffic.
As of 4:30 p.m., southbound traffic is still being diverted off the freeway at the Harrisburg/Junction City exit. A detour is in place, although ODOT said "over-sized semi trucks" may not use the detour.
