Oregon Country Fair's Golden Anniversary Draws Huge Crowds

Oregon Country Fair

Oregon Country Fair kicks off its 50th year on Friday in Veneta. The three-day festival is expected to draw its largest crowd in history.

About 3-thousand people attended the first fair in 1969. This year organizers expect around 50-thousand fairgoers.

Stephanie Talbot, assistant manager of OCF, says the golden anniversary is a big draw.

“There’s a lot of fair family that have come for generations and so we’re expecting some of our founders to be coming back for the event,” says Talbot. “But we’re also expecting a peak in attendance just because of people who’ve heard about it due to the extra excitement about the 50th.”

Talbot adds as part of the anniversary celebration, they are having new exhibits to get people involved, including craft demonstrations, art displays, and timelines.

Fairgoers are encouraged to take free shuttles. No tickets are sold on site and non-service animals are not allowed.
