Friday marked Eugene’s 37th annual S.L.U.G. Queen Competition and Coronation.

On the “Saturday Market Stage” downtown, people decked out in slug-themed outfits gathered to watch the competition.

First Lady in Waiting, Kim Still, describes how the competitors become queen.

“There are three parts for the competition,” says Still. “There’s a costume, there is a talent, broadly defined, and then there is a question that they have to answer.”

Still adds most competitors have a cause they’re passionate about.

At the end of the night, SluGoddess Slime Shine took home the crown.

“This is amazing,” says Slime Shine. “So now I have to make sure I’m at all the super cool events and attend and promote the parade.”
