April 2025 Events at New Zone Gallery

We will be hosting three special exhibits during the month of April
in addition to the eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional art created by the members the New Zone Gallery, located in our beautiful space at 110 East 11th in Eugene.

“Preview Legacy Retrospective,” Artworks by Jerry Ross
This is a preview of a retrospective exhibit to be held at the Gordon Hotel in 2026 where Jerry Ross will be artist in residence. Jerry’s aesthetic vision is encapsulated in a style he calls “American Verismo” which is largely inspired by Italian art. He also draws from both Chinese painting ideas and the ideas of the Italian Macchiaioli group of Tuscany.

Barbora Bakalarova - Poetic Lens and Marilyn Kent -Wild Ideas
To celebrate our 40th anniversary we have invited Barbora and Marilyn back to the New Zone as featured artists. Barbora’s “Poetic Lens” show is a selection of photographs that invite the viewer to a poetic reflection. From private myth to common objects, in uncommon places, to nature within and about us. Marilyn’s “Wild Ideas” show displays collage based paintings, that she worked during the pandemic, explore themes of confusion, anger and the need for connection.

In the Klausmeier Room: Susan Walenza - The Spirit of Water
On display will be a collection of Clear Lake photos by Susan Walenza. In “The Spirit of Water.” These photos capture the fractal nature of water as it interacts with light, casting fields of patterned interconnectedness. The photos unfold a broad color palette, perhaps one only seen in reflection.

Don’t Miss our First-Friday Opening Reception
on Friday, April 4th, 5:30 to 7:30 PM during the Eugene First Friday ArtWalk. There will be snacks, Beverages from Hop Valley Brewing and wine from Sundance Wine Cellars and live music.

The New Zone Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday 12-6 pm
