Man Shot By Eugene Police Now In Lane Co. Jail

Lane County Jail

A man shot by Eugene Police a week ago in the Whiteaker neighborhood is now being held in the Lane County Jail.

According to his attorney, Brian Michaels, Muhsin Sharif, age 26, was shot twice—in the shoulder and a leg. He was arraigned Friday in the hospital on charges including strangulation, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. Sharif was moved to the jail later Friday. Michaels told KLCC he did not know Sharif’s condition. Though he had an appointment to meet with him Monday
Eugene police officers shot Sharif after he allegedly advanced on them with a knife after they tried to apprehend him on Nov. 30th. Police were there on a domestic violence call.  Sharif allegedly attempted to strangle his estranged partner, in the presence of their child, in what may have been a custody dispute. The charges against Sharif include domestic violence. Michaels says he’s seeking police and third party video footage of the incident.
Activists in Eugene held a protest last Friday of the police shooting of Sharif, who is Black.
