One of Lane County’s most popular parks remains closed indefinitely due to last month’s snowstorm.
Staff and volunteers are helping clean up Mt. Pisgah and Buford Park Recreation Area’s 17 miles of trails.
Brett Henry is Parks Division Manager for Lane County. He says the snowstorm caused numerous trees and branches to fall down throughout the park. A major power line collapsed on one of the main paths. Henry says some of the trails are not even accessible to crews.
“There’s been so much damage, so many trees, so much snow up on those higher elevation trails that they’ve not been able to quite get to yet.”
Henry says they’re assessing the damage on a week to week basis. And hope to re-open as soon as it’s considered safe for the public. Mt. Pisgah is among 10 different Lane County parks that are closed after last month’s heavy snowfall.
