New Draft of Parks Master Plan Asks Lane County Community To Give Input On Local Parks

Rachael McDonald

A draft of the parks master plan from Lane County Parks is now available for feedback. Residents can comment on what they’d like to see in local parks online and at six upcoming community meetings.

The parks master plan sets guidelines for how the county chooses to maintain and invest in the 68 parks throughout Lane County. The current draft includes community recommendations the department received last summer.

Devon Ashbridge is with Lane County and says one of the biggest things the community wants is to protect natural spaces:

"We also heard a lot that parks should help us protect our natural resources. They should sustain and protect those unique assets we have here in  lane county for future generations.”

The master plan will influence parks projects for the next several decades. The six community meetings will take place through August 2, and more information can be found on the Lane County Parks website.

The time and locations of each community meeting can be found below. They take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, July 24, at the Veneta Community Center (25192 E. Broadway)
  • Wednesday July 25, in the Lane County Public Works Goodson Room (3040 N. Delta Highway, Eugene)
  • Thursday, July 26, at the Leaburg Fire Station (42870 McKenzie Highway
