The Jack Fire east of Roseburg is 61% contained, but officials have declared a red flag warning due to extreme temperatures and low humidity.
At a briefing today, Operations Sections Chief Steve North said the red flag is also due to a 30% chance of dry thunderstorms over the fire.

“We’re hoping the weather will cooperate, allow us to take offensive firing operations to secure this fire," said North. "And we’ll pick up any additional lightning strikes as they occur.”
The Jack Fire has grown to more than 22,000 acres, with 522 personnel battling it. Parts of the Umpqua National Forest remain closed.
