The healthy comfort food of Café Yumm! began in Eugene’s Fifth Street Public Market over 22 years ago. Next year, a new store in the Market District will bring the company back to its roots.
President and Co-Founder Mark Beauchamp says, in addition to nostalgia, the Market District’s architecture is appealing:
Beauchamp: “It will be different than other locations we have. Most of the seating will be actually in the alleyway itself, so a very indoor / outdoor feeling.”
He says the development will bring vitality and character to the downtown corridor. As for Café Yumm’s East Broadway location:
Beauchamp: “As far as we know it’s still going to close and be redeveloped. We have an agreement that we will receive a 60-day notice. We have not yet received a 60-day notice, and so that’s where we are.”
Beauchamp says they’re committed to finding jobs within the company for all displaced employees. Café Yumm! believes in slow growth, and plans to add another two to three stores next year.
