Eugene Mayor Offers Reminders On Safely Celebrating Memorial Day

Lane County Public Health video

After a spike over the weekend, Lane County’s COVID-19 positive caseload stands at 66. Meanwhile, a holiday approaches.

At a press briefing Thursday, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis says the Oregon Plan for re-opening requires that businesses and activities in Lane County approach slowly and safely.

“As we go into the long Memorial Day weekend, one where we may even get some sunshine, I want to remind everyone that we are only in Phase 1 and the importance of protecting the health, safety and well-being of our community.”

Vinis added that travel should be limited, a small group means under 25 people and the six foot distance rule should continue to be observed. When that can’t happen, everyone should mask up.

Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg announced economic recovery and housing stabilization plans are underway citywide.

Lundberg says a Spanish language version of the Back to Business Resource Guide will be available this week on the Springfield Chamber of Commerce website. It provides local businesses with state guidelines and tips as they work to re-open.
