Search Underway For New UO President

Jes Burns

The search for a new University of Oregon President may take some time. The University has hired a recruitment firm and set up a search committee and an advisory group.

This will be the first U of O President hired under the University's new independent governing board.
Tobin Klinger is a spokesman for the U of O.

Klinger: "The stakes are different at this particular point in time. And I think that the board, knowing the change in the dynamics that's happened, that there's a real emphasis on making sure that we go about this in a way that's going to bring a president that's going to be with us for a long time."

U of O President Michael Gottfredson resigned abruptly this summer. Scott Coltrane is serving as interim president.

This week there are two public forums to get input from the community about what to look for in a new president.

The first is Monday evening from 5:30 to 7 at the UO Knight Library in Eugene.

The second forum is Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7 at the White Stag Building in Portland.
