Earlier this week, the Eugene School Board voted to close Corridor Elementary at the end of this school year.
The Santa Clara area alternative school is small – less than 200 students – and was at risk of closure due to the large budget shortfall the 4J district is facing.
The vote was 6-1, with board member Gordon Lafer as the sole vote against the motion.
Corridor was founded in the 1970s and had an emphasis on smaller classes and the performing arts. It’s unknown what's next for the school’s students, since the lottery period to try and attend a school outside your neighborhood is closed.
