A Bond for Bethel School District Might Be on Your November Ballot

During a recent Bethel School board meeting, members discussed putting a bond on the November election ballot. The funds would be used to update buildings and provide more student resources.

Bethel superintendent Chris Parra said the proposed bond would be roughly $87.3 million in total. These funds would be used to replace Cascade Middle School, update the Willamette and Kalapuya High Schools, purchase more technology and textbooks, maintain building maintenance, and update gyms and play areas to meet P.E. requirements.

The board is moving forward with a professional survey so they can review that recommendation and make their decision to move forward with the bond by the next school board meeting on August 10.

If approved, the district will work to submit the bond proposal before the Lane County Elections August 15 filing deadline. The school board may call a special meeting to make this decision if needed.
