Lane Blood Center Faces Shortage

Waldszenen

There's a blood shortage in Lane County. It's partly a seasonal thing-- donations tend to drop off during summer months. But there have also been multiple trauma victims recently in area hospitals.

Kristi McElhinney is with Lane Blood Center. She says they need about 80 donations a day to replenish blood supplies for the region. She's hoping folks will come in to donate before the Labor Day holiday.

McElhinney: "We really need to replenish that supply before the holiday week when there is a lot of travel and people don't come in and donate as much and oftentimes there are car accidents and other types of accidents that will use blood."

Donors who register to give blood at the Lane Blood Center before September 20th will be entered into a drawing for Ducks Football tickets.
