Centers For Disease Control
/

Health officials know that the influenza virus spreads from Southern to Northern Hemisphere. That puts Oregon pretty late in the game and means the flu season here doesn’t end until May. KLCC’s Tiffany Eckert sits down with Lane County Public Health nurse Cindy Morgan, to talk cold and flu symptoms, possible immunity and flu shot effectiveness.

Cindy Morgan is Communicable Disease Supervisor for Lane County Public Health. Last year, seventeen people died of complications of the flu. $13 million in tax payer dollars were spent treating influenza in Lane County. Health officials say it is not too late to get a flu shot.

Tiffany joined the KLCC News team in 2007. She studied journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia and has worked in a variety of media including television and daily print news. For KLCC, Tiffany reports on health care, social justice and local/regional news. She has won awards from Oregon Associated Press, PRNDI, and Education Writers Association.
