A medical non-profit facility in Eugene has expanded its hours and added a doctor. As KLCC’s Brian Bull reports, this means the White Bird Clinic is now open to more Medicare patients.

The development is part of a much larger expansion of services White Bird is carrying out as it marks its 50th anniversary this year.

Chris Hecht is the clinic’s executive coordinator.  He says there’s more help on the way for low-income patients needing attention.

“We’re also sometime later this fall, starting a primary care walk-in clinic," he tells KLCC.  So no appointment will be needed to be seen.

"And we are almost ready to launch services from our mobile medical trailer for White Bird’s street medicine program.   We’re bringing care to where people are, rather than requiring them to come in to downtown.”

Hecht adds that later this month, the White Bird medical clinic should have the capacity to take on new Medicaid patients as well.

Starting August 5th, the clinic will be open Monday – Friday from 9am - 6pm, except every other Monday when the facility will be closed between 12:30pm – 2:30pm for staff meetings.
