A worker at the Eugene YMCA has tested negative for the coronavirus.  But Y officials say they’re extending the date for re-opening the community facility from March 17th to April 1st.

CEO Brian Steffen tells KLCC that the staff will take time to sanitize and do a “deep clean” in order to operate with as much care and caution as possible.

Members are urged to stay home if they’re sick, limit social interactions, and to wash hands thoroughly and cover coughs.

To date, no confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in Lane County.  But health officials say it’s only a matter of time.
