Cooling Centers In the KLCC Listening Area

City of Corvallis

 

Note: This post will be updated as KLCC receives more information.

Lane County

Lane County is activating a cooling and heat respite center at the Lane Events Center, main performance hall. This facility is open to anyone who needs to cool down and will open from 9am to 10pm Saturday and Sunday, June 26th and 27th. Snacks and water will be available.

In Eugene, all water fountains and splash pads are turned on for the summer. Splash pads are located at Fairmount Park, Oakmont Park, Skinner Butte Park and Washington Park.

The Eugene Public Library in Downtown Eugene is air-conditioned and open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday.

The Eugene Service Station will be open (8:30am-5pm 7 days/week) and First Place Family Center (8-5) will have water when visiting the folks in overnight and safe parking spots.

Black Thistle Street Aid will be at Washington Jefferson Park on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. distributing water and other supplies as long as they last.

The Hilyard Community Center at 2580 Hilard Street will be open as a cooling center on Sunday from noon to 7pm.

The Alluvium on 810 W 3rd Ave will be open as a cooling center on Saturday and Sunday. 

 
In Springfield, water misters are available beneath City Hall on 5th Street from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day starting on Saturday, and a water bottle filling station from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Splash! at Lively Park in Springfield will be open at limited capacity on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Cottage Grove Community Center on 700 E Gibbs Ave. will be open from 10am to sundown. Masks will be required to enter.

 
Junction City: Both King’s Grace Church and Junction City BaptistChurch are opening their facilities to enable people to get into a safe, air-conditioned environment.  Both facilities will operate from 1:00 PM until midnight on both Saturday and Sunday.  Cool refreshments and snacks will be available. Anyone without the ability to maintain a safe body temperature is encouraged to partake in these services.  Pets are welcome too, but for safety reasons, MUST BE confined to a hard-surfaced or wire-framed kennel.The addresses and phone numbers for the Junction City facilities are:

Benton County

In Corvallis, the Community Center is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Air conditioning, water, ice and snacks will be available. Space in the community center is prioritized for seniors.

 

The Men’s Cold Weather Shelter at 211 SE Chapman Place is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Water, misters, ice, snacks, fans and shade will be available.

 

In Monroe, the Monroe Arts Association on 175 S. 5th Street will be open on Sunday from noon to 6pm. Air conditioning, misters, waters, ice and snacks will be available.

In Philomath, the Peace Lutheran Church at 2540 Applegate Street will be open on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6pm. Air conditioning, water, ice and snacks will be available.

In Alsea, the Alsea School at 301 S 3rd Street will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6pm. Air conditioning, water, ice and snacks will be available.

The Foursquare Gospel Center, located at 540 SE Main Street in Winston, will be opening their doors as a cooling center on Sunday June 27th from 10 AM to 7:30 PM. For any questions you can call the Gospel Center at 541-679-3108.

 

 

Linn County:

Albany Cooling Centers

For senior citizens, the Albany Public Library at 2450 14th Ave. SE will be open on Saturday and Sunday 3-7pm.

C.H.A.N.C.E Albany 231 Lyons Street S will be open on Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm. Water and snacks will be available.

Lebanon

Lebanon Soup Kitchen at 170 East Grant Street will have a cooling center open Saturday and Sunday 3-8 pm

River Center at 3000 South Santiam Highway will have a cooling center open on Sunday from 11:30 am to 8 pm.

Brownsville

Brownsville Senior Center on 345 N. Main Street will be open as needed on Saturday and Sunday. Call Marilee at 541-619-3087 to open the building.

Sweet Home

Sweet Home City Hall on 3225 Main Street will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm.

Sweet Home Public Library on 1101 13th Ave. will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm.

Sweet Home Police Station on 1950 Main Street will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm.

 
 

Deschutes County:

Bend Cooling Centers 

From 12-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 26, 27 and July 3, 4 at the First Presbyterian Church, 230 NE 9th Street, Bend, OR. Pets are welcome. 

From 12-5pm Monday through Friday, June 28- July 2 at Shepherd’s House, 275 NE 2d Street, Bend, OR. Pets are welcome. 

Helpers and Street Kitchen Collective will provide support to those residing at Hunnell Road beginning Saturday. 

Redmond Cooling Centers 

From 11am-6pm on Sunday, June 27 and from 2-6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at NE 17th and Greenwood, Redmond, OR. Organized by Redmond Collective Action. 

From 12-5pm Monday through Friday, June 28-July 2nd at Mountain View Fellowship, 1475 Southwest 35th Street, Redmond, OR. Organized by Redmond Service Providers. Transportation available via Dial-a-Ride. Pets are welcome. 

Madras Cooling Center 

The Jefferson County Cooling Center will operate at the Madras Free Methodist Church, 976 S. Adams, Madras from 12-5pm daily, beginning this Saturday, June 26th through July 4th. Transportation will be available at the corner of 4th and Maple (behind Sonic) at 11:45 am daily. 

Outreach Services 

Deschutes County Homeless Outreach, Central Oregon’s Veteran’s Outreach, Jericho Road,

Cascades Youth and Family Services Street Outreach and Mosaic Medical will maintain outreach schedules with a focus on providing access to water and other basic needs in response to the extreme heat.
