Heading into the 4th of July weekend, Oregonians can celebrate hitting a pandemic milestone: 70% of adults 18 years and older have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The state’s numbers were released Friday based on data reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The 70% adult vaccination goal was reached through the efforts of more than 660 vaccination sites statewide.

Oregon lifted statewide restrictions/protections on June 30, just days before the adult vax goal was actually met. The state will continue to support vaccination efforts in communities in an effort to reach "herd immunity." However, local health authorities will be responsible for managing future outbreaks of COVID-19 at the local level.

Oregon now stands 18th in the nation in the percentage of the total population vaccinated against COVID-19.
