Forecasted Winter Weather Good for Ailing Snowpack

Travel Oregon

Much of Oregon saw snow these past couple of days. Meteorologists predict that cold, snowy weather will continue over the next couple of weeks.

Joe Solomon is with the National Weather Service in Pendleton. He says the snow is sorely needed:

SOLOMON: We’ll see some increased snowpack in the mountains. We’re will only about 50% normal snowpack region wide.  We’ll see improvement on that over the next 2-3 weeks. The next 3-4 weeks will be critical for the amount of snowpack we get in the mountains.

Solomon says that it's unlikely the new snow will bring the snow pack to normal levels this late in the season, but any new precipitation is good news for farmers and the environment.
