Longtime Eugene Resident Files To Run For Lane County Commissioner

Rachael McDonald

Laurie Trieger filed Thursday to run for the district 3 seat on the Board of Lane County Commissioners. The incumbent, Pete Sorenson, has decided not to run for re-election in 2020.

Trieger has lived in Lane County for more than 30 years. She’s worked for non-profits, including Food for Lane County and the Lane Coalition for Healthy and Active Youth. Trieger is a former member of the county budget committee and serves on the Equity and Access Advisory Board.  Trieger says one of her priorities is leveling the playing field.

“Whether it’s for working families who need enough of an income to meet their basic needs. Whether it’s for youth to have every possible opportunity to grow up healthy and in a community that is also healthy and supports them in making healthy choices whether it’s for folks who’ve had a really hard time and struggled in the past and are working hard to get back on their feet.”

District 3 represents South Eugene on the Lane County Board of Commissioners. The seat is non-partisan and will be on the May 2020 primary election ballot.
