Oakridge School District Reaches Tentative Agreement with Union on Remote Working Conditions

Oakridge School District

The Oakridge School District and the Oakridge Education Association reached a tentative agreement Wednesday for working conditions during the pandemic.

If the agreement is finalized, Oakridge teachers will be able to work from home, if they choose, until limited in-person instruction or hybrid learning begins.

Although Music Teacher Michael Wilson said it’s a step in the right direction, he still wants better communication from the district on remote and hybrid learning.

“I would like them to have those plans in place in public so that given a reasonable amount of time—and for some families that may be a week—then the families would be prepared to re-engage their students at the school building,” said Wilson. “I know that the district may be working on those plans, but they are not effectively being communicated to the staff or to the community.”

The tentative agreement with the Oakridge School District also includes the extension of paid leave benefits through June 30 for employees who are required to quarantine if they are exposed to COVID-19 while on district property.
