Oregon State Police say they’ve been able to rule out more potential victims in the case of an unidentified girl found dead last December in Lincoln County.
Police say the body of a girl aged six-and-a-half to ten years old was found December 10 near the Van Duzer rest area just off Highway 18 east of Lincoln City.
More than three months after the discovery, investigators have received more than 180 tips from the public as well as other law enforcement agencies and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
So far authorities have been able to rule out 61 individuals from possibly being the child whose body was found. Detectives are awaiting results of DNA analysis that could help provide more information about the girl’s race, origin, eye color and other details that could help identify her.
Police say the girl stood between 3’10’ and 4’6” tall and had long black or dark brown hair. They say it's likely she died at least 30 days prior to her discovery on December 10, 2020.
