"Plenty To Go Around": 26,700 COVID Vaccines Sent To Lane Co. This Week

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Lane County Public Health announced Tuesday they have received the highest allocation of COVID-19 vaccines from the state to date. With supply on the rise, the issue now is demand.

Lane County will have ample amounts of COVID-19 vaccine available this week to be administered through mobile, small  and mass vax clinics. Appointments may be made but walk ups are welcome this weekend at the Lane Events Center and Autzen Stadium. The mass vax clinic at Lane Community College has been decommissioned.

26,700 doses will be made available to Lane County this week by the Oregon Health Authority. The bump comes after recent pleas from county officials for more vaccine to be sent to the region.

Public Health will hold two mass vax clinics this weekend for anyone 16 or older. Appointments can still be made-- but walk ups are also welcome.

Spokesperson Jason Davis said now is the time for anyone who has been on the fence to go ahead and get the shot.

“There is no shortage," he said.  "If you were one of those people who had a mindset that you were going to wait so that other people who are more at risk could get the vaccine first? Thank you for being community-minded-- however we have more than enough vaccine.”

Nearly 61% of the adult population has received at least one dose and 38% of the overall population, including late teens, have been immunized against COVID-19.
