Oregon has 414 known cases of the novel coronavirus as of Friday, according to state and local health officials. The state has 12 known deaths related to the virus.
Lane County, has nine positive coronavirus test results as of Friday and one related death. At a press briefing, Public Health Spokesperson Jason Davis described the two newest cases. One is a man who is in his late 60s.
“The initial onset of symptoms for this person was on March 18th. And they included a fever, a cough, and extreme fatigue. And that extreme fatigue piece does seem to be a commonality in the initial symptoms.”
Davis says another common symptom of COVID-19 is loss of the sense of smell and taste. The man is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The other new case is a woman in her 50s who is self-isolating at home.
Oregon’s 12th COVID-19 death is an 82-year-old woman in Marion County,. She tested positive on March 20, and died March 25 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying medical conditions.
