Some Oregon Counties Suspend Outdoor Burning Due to Fire Danger

Oregon Department of Forestry

The Lane Regional Air Protection Authority has suspended outdoor burning in Lane County for a week beginning Thursday, April 15, due to high fire danger.

Unseasonably dry conditions and high winds have contributed to an increase in fire danger.

The outdoor burning season is tentatively expected to re-open next Thursday (April 22) if fire risk subsides. But, it may be prohibited further depending on weather conditions. Linn and Benton Counties have also temporarily suspended outdoor burning. Other counties are strongly discouraging it.

Violations of outdoor burning rules can result in stiff fines for both air quality and fire risk.
