UO Title IX Coordinator Steps Down

Jes Burns

The University of Oregon’s Title IX Coordinator is leaving her post. Darci Heroy has led the office since 2016.

The Title IX office is responsible for prevention and response to sexual assault. The University of Oregon’s Around the O website says Heroy was responsible for expanding the campus’s Title IX structure and increasing staff. The office made changes to the school’s employee responsible reporting policies that focus more on the needs of the survivor of sexual assault or harassment. The federal Title IX law mandates equal access to education and forbids discrimination on the basis of sex. Heroy says she plans to spend more time with her young children. The University of Oregon plans to launch a national search for her replacement.
