Workplace Outbreak Identified In Lane County

Lane County Public Health has identified cluster of COVID-19 cases at El Torito Grocery Store in Eugene. Seven staff members have tested positive for the virus.

Under Oregon Health Authority, any workplace with five or more cases will be publically identified. The market on Highway 99 was open Wednesday. But, the owner told KLCC business has been very slow and he’s not sure if he can remain open.

Public Health said El Torito is not considered a public exposure site. They added that management is cooperating and taking all recommended health procedures.

Lane County public health identified a total of ten new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. There are 63 individuals who are considered infectious in the county. There have been 235 known positive cases and 3 deaths related to coronavirus in Lane County.

An employee of the City of Newport has tested positive for coronavirus. The city says the individual is quarantining at home. A number of other city employees were also tested and their results are still pending.
